2027 Kia Telluride Teased Ahead of Debut — Bigger, Bolder, and Now with a Hybrid Powertrain

The much-loved Kia Telluride is getting a major evolution. For 2027, Kia’s flagship SUV will grow in size, adopt a more refined design, and finally join the electrified era with a brand-new hybrid powertrain.
Kia has just dropped the first teaser images of the next-generation Telluride, giving us a shadowy but promising look at what’s to come. The large SUV keeps its signature upright stance and squared-off silhouette but now features sharper fenders, vertical LED lighting, and a more sculpted front end. The headlights’ vertical light signature mirrors the taillights — a design cue that gives the SUV a cohesive, modern look.
A Bestseller Ready for Reinvention
When it first launched in 2019, the Telluride instantly became a benchmark among three-row SUVs. Reviewers praised its upscale cabin, value-for-money luxury, and confident road presence. In fact, we said it was “here to eat the Explorer’s lunch” — and we weren’t wrong.
Fast forward six years, and Telluride remains one of Kia’s top-selling models and a consistent favorite in the U.S. market. Despite being a relatively old design, sales have climbed each year and are expected to hit record numbers in 2025. That level of sustained success speaks volumes about the SUV’s strong reputation for quality and comfort.
The all-new 2027 model will officially debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 20, marking the most significant update since its original release.
Sharper Design, Smarter Tech
Spy shots and early leaks have already revealed plenty about the redesign. The 2027 Telluride will feature streamlined bodywork, flush door handles, and chunky C-shaped LED signatures that reinforce its bold, premium feel. The iconic “tiger nose” grille returns with a new egg-crate pattern, framed by angular air inlets and muscular bumpers.
Inside, expect an even more upscale and tech-driven cabin, likely inspired by the latest EV9 and Sorento interiors. Larger digital displays, higher-grade materials, and expanded safety tech from the Kia Drive Wise suite are expected to headline the upgrades.
Introducing the Telluride Hybrid
Under the hood, the next Telluride will reportedly swap its 3.8-liter V6 for a more efficient 3.5-liter V6 delivering 287 hp (214 kW / 291 PS) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque.
But the real news is the arrival of the Telluride Hybrid. This version will pair a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a 1.65 kWh battery pack and dual electric motors integrated into a six-speed automatic transmission. The system is expected to produce 329 hp (245 kW / 334 PS) and 339 lb-ft (459 Nm) of torque while returning over 30 mpg on the highway — a major leap in efficiency for a vehicle of this size.
A Rugged Trim Joins the Family
For adventure-seekers, Kia is reportedly preparing a more off-road-focused variant, similar to Hyundai’s Palisade XRT Pro. This tougher Telluride features red recovery hooks, beefier tires, and a lifted suspension setup, perfect for light trails or weekend getaways.
With its strong lineup, hybrid innovation, and new design direction, the 2027 Kia Telluride is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated SUV launches of the decade.
