Bentley Flying Spur Debuts Exclusive Ombré Paint Fade : A $68,000 Masterpiece of Craftsmanship

Bentley has once again redefined the meaning of luxury customization with the debut of its Flying Spur finished in a breathtaking Ombré paint fade, transitioning seamlessly from Topaz Blue to Windsor Blue. This exclusive creation will make its public premiere at the Southampton International Boat Show, showcasing Mulliner’s unmatched dedication to bespoke artistry.

The Ombré design is not entirely new to Bentley fans—it was first introduced during Monterey Car Week on a commissioned Continental GT Speed. However, bringing this striking finish to the Flying Spur, Bentley’s flagship luxury sedan, elevates the experience of grand touring to new heights.

A Paint Process Like No Other

Bentley revealed that creating this ombre fade effect requires two master paint technicians and nearly 60 painstaking hours of work. The process begins by applying two distinct colors—Topaz Blue at the front and Windsor Blue at the rear. To achieve a flawless gradient, the paints are carefully tinted and layered in multiple stages. Precision is crucial: the fade must remain perfectly symmetrical on both sides of the vehicle while avoiding the accidental creation of a third unintended hue.

This level of craftsmanship explains why the Ombré by Mulliner paint option is Bentley’s most exclusive finish to date, priced at an astonishing $68,000 (£48,000). That makes the paint job alone costlier than entire vehicles such as the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, or the fully electric Cadillac Lyriq. In fact, for the same price, one could nearly purchase four Nissan Versa sedans.

Limited Options, Maximum Exclusivity

For now, Bentley is offering only three Ombré combinations:

  • Topaz Blue → Windsor Blue (as seen on the Flying Spur debut)
  • Tungsten → Onyx
  • Sunburst Gold → Orange Flame

Future color combinations will be made available, but Bentley stresses that the choices must be carefully curated to prevent unwanted blending. For instance, a yellow-to-blue fade would result in an unintended green center, which is strictly avoided.

A Statement in Luxury Customization

The Ombré finish highlights Bentley’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of bespoke automotive design. Each paint job is not only a visual masterpiece but also a statement of individuality, designed for clients who demand the rarest and most exclusive personalization options in the automotive world.

With this innovation, Bentley once again proves why it remains at the forefront of luxury car customization, setting benchmarks that few other manufacturers dare to challenge.
