Geely EX5 Launches in the UK : Affordable 267-Mile Electric SUV Rivals Skoda Enyaq and Hyundai Ioniq 5

Geely, the Chinese automotive giant that owns Lotus, Volvo, Polestar, and LEVC, has officially entered the UK market under its own name with the all-new Geely EX5 electric SUV. Priced from just £31,990, the EX5 is set to challenge established EVs like the Skoda Enyaq, Nissan Ariya, and Hyundai Ioniq 5, combining affordability, practicality, and modern technology.
Dimensions and Powertrain
The EX5 measures 4.61m long, 1.90m wide, and 1.67m tall, placing it squarely in the competitive mid-size SUV category. It is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor producing 215 bhp, paired with a 60.2 kWh (usable) lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack.
This setup provides an electric range of up to 267 miles in the entry-level SE trim, while the higher-spec Max trim offers 255 miles due to additional equipment weight. Charging from 30-80% takes just 20 minutes using rapid charging, ensuring convenience for UK drivers.
Trim Levels and Equipment
- SE (£31,990): 18-inch alloy wheels, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, and heated steering wheel.
- Pro (£33,990): Adds 19-inch wheels and exclusive Cloud interior colour scheme.
- Max (£36,990): Panoramic glass roof, powered bootlid, ventilated front seats, plus extra premium features.
The EX5 also comes with a six-year warranty, extendable by an additional two years, making it one of the most reassuring offers in the segment.
Market Strategy and Sales Outlook
Geely has ambitious goals for Europe, with UK fleet buyers expected to be a core market for the EX5. This strategy makes sense, as fleet sales currently dominate EV adoption across the continent.

The Chinese manufacturer aims to expand rapidly, adding over 300 dealerships and service centres outside China by the end of 2025. Geely sold nearly 2.2 million vehicles worldwide in 2024, marking a 34% increase year-on-year, and the EX5 is poised to accelerate its growth even further in the UK.
Why It Matters
With its combination of competitive pricing, respectable range, and generous equipment, the Geely EX5 could disrupt the UK EV market, offering buyers a strong alternative to European and Korean rivals. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in late October 2025, marking a pivotal step in Geely’s European expansion.
