Mercedes-Benz Issues Stop-Drive Warning for 2025 E-Class Over Safety Concerns

Mercedes-Benz has initiated a recall for a limited number of its recently released 2025 E-Class vehicles in the United States. This recall affects 17 units, including the E350, E350 4Matic, E450 4Matic, and E450 4Matic Station Wagon models, all manufactured between August 12 and September 6, 2024. The automaker has urged owners to immediately stop driving these vehicles due to a potentially serious safety issue.

The underlying problem

The recall stems from a production flaw in the welds securing the camber strut brackets to the rear axle carrier. Mercedes-Benz explained that these welds may not meet production specifications, potentially compromising their ability to handle normal driving forces. If the camber strut brackets detach, it could severely impact vehicle control, increasing the risk of accidents. This issue, attributed to a “deviation in the production process,” has not yet resulted in any reported accidents or warranty claims.

Prompt action taken

On December 9, Mercedes identified an incorrect weld during a routine inspection at one of its assembly plants, prompting an immediate investigation. To ensure safety, Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) has issued a stop-drive warning and is providing complimentary towing services to dealerships for affected vehicles. Impacted owners will also receive loaner vehicles or alternate transportation to minimize inconvenience.

Repair details

Dealerships have been instructed to replace the rear axle carriers in the affected vehicles. However, the timeline for the commencement of repairs has not been disclosed. Owners are advised to contact the MBUSA Customer Care Center for assistance or check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall database for more information.

Preventive measures

Mercedes-Benz’s swift response underscores the brand’s commitment to safety and quality. This recall highlights the importance of regular manufacturing audits to catch potential flaws early. Drivers of the 2025 E-Class are urged to comply with the recall instructions to ensure their safety and that of others on the road.
