As the electric vehicle (EV) race intensifies, Xiaomi is quickly staking its claim in the competitive EV market with the upcoming YU7 SUV, set to be the electric sibling of the SU7 sedan. The YU7 retains much of the SU7’s design language, albeit with tweaks that solidify its identity as an SUV. Its slightly taller stance and muscular presence set it apart from its sedan sibling. These dimensions closely mirror those of the SU7 sedan, with the SUV offering a 145 mm (5.7 inches) height advantage for a more commanding presence on the road. Interior and Technology Features
Although Xiaomi has yet to reveal full details about the YU7’s interior, we can expect it to share a tech-forward design with the SU7 sedan. This performance puts the YU7 ahead of the SU7 Max, which maxes out at 664 hp (495 kW), showcasing the YU7’s superior powertrain capabilities. The SU7 offers various battery capacities, including 73.6 kWh, 94.3 kWh, and 101 kWh, providing a maximum range of up to 497 miles (800 km) according to the CLTC cycle. Given the larger, heavier frame of the YU7, it is expected that its range will be slightly lower than the SU7 sedan but still competitive within the market.
Pricing and Launch
The YU7 SUV is expected to be priced between ¥250,000–300,000 (approximately $34,400–$41,300), making it a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y. Xiaomi is tight-lipped about the exact pricing, but the YU7 will undoubtedly offer excellent value given its advanced technology and performance. Production will take place at Xiaomi’s Beijing facilities, where the SU7 sedan has already reached the 100,000-unit milestone.
