Cupra Tindaya Concept at IAA Mobility 2025: A Bold Vision of Electrified Luxury and Phygital Design

At the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, Cupra stole the spotlight with the unveiling of the Tindaya, a radical show car that merges bold exterior styling, a futuristic “phygital” interior, and a strong commitment to sustainable materials. Named after Mount Tindaya, a volcanic mountain in Fuerteventura (Canary Islands), the concept car symbolizes Cupra’s forward-thinking identity and ambitions for the future of electric mobility.

Measuring 4.72 meters in length and rolling on 23-inch alloy wheels, the Tindaya boasts an assertive, athletic stance. With its angular lines, fastback silhouette, and Lamborghini-like aggressiveness, the SUV-inspired concept reflects the Spanish brand’s DNA while pushing design boundaries even further. Positioned above the current Cupra Tavascan (4.64 m), this concept hints at a potential flagship model that could lead the brand’s electrified SUV lineup in the near future.

A “Phygital” Cockpit Inspired by Gaming and Racing

Inside, Cupra has taken a bold step with a cockpit entirely focused on the driver. The so-called Driver Axis revolves around a 24-inch panoramic display and a racing- and gaming-inspired steering wheel. A sculpted dashboard embraces the driver, while a spine-like central console runs across the cabin.

At its core lies “The Jewel”, a crystal-shaped glass prism that becomes the heart of the Tindaya experience. It adjusts driving modes, ambient lighting, and soundscapes, turning the drive into a multi-sensory interaction that merges the physical with the digital. This “phygital” approach is Cupra’s response to the blending of technology and human emotion.

The 2+2 seating layout is accessed via suicide doors (rear-hinged), while the futuristic lounge-style seats reinterpret the iconic Eames Lounge Chair, bringing design heritage into the mobility of tomorrow.

Sustainability Meets Performance

Cupra places sustainability at the forefront of the Tindaya. The exterior shifts between matte deep gray and warm beige, colors inspired by both ocean and mountain landscapes. Inside, eco-friendly materials like Bcomp flax fiber composites, vegan leather, and bronze-coated microfibers emphasize the brand’s commitment to greener mobility without compromising on style or luxury.

Digital innovation enhances this futuristic vision with Cupra Monitor+ and Cupra Radar, offering real-time driver assistance, evolving digital displays, and seamless connection to the Cupra Tribe, the brand’s global community of passionate drivers.

As Cupra CEO Markus Haupt declared:

“The Cupra Tindaya show car is a radical statement — a bold expression of our design language and our vision for the future of mobility.”

A Glimpse Into Cupra’s Electrified Future

While the Tindaya remains a concept, its bold design, sustainable materials, and immersive technology showcase the direction of Cupra’s next-generation models. Positioned as a flagship vision vehicle, the Tindaya could inspire production SUVs that combine athleticism, digital innovation, and eco-responsibility — staying true to the brand’s philosophy of challenging conventions and embracing emotional performance.
